Our Client, Audacie, is looking for a Tax Director to join their team.

Reporting to the Senior Tax Director, the Tax Director participates in the execution of tax mandates requiring more technical knowledge.

  • Graduate degree in taxation
  • Recognized CPA or lawyer designation
  • 5 years or more of relevant experience in taxation, ideally with a professional firm
  • Knowledge of tax research and tax return softwares and tools
  • Thorough knowledge of the Income Tax Act and the Quebec Taxation Act

Brief Description

Reporting to the Senior Tax Director, the Tax Director participates in the execution of tax mandates requiring more technical knowledge. More specifically, their duties will include:

 

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

Participate in tax consulting mandates:

  • Conduct tax research and provide sound interpretation
  • Draft transactional memoranda to implement tax reorganizations
  • Keep abreast of new developments in tax matters
  • Provide support to tax team members assigned to tax mandates
  • Respond to tax queries from departments within the organization, as required
  • Ensure that deadlines are met

Present follow-ups to the Senior Director responsible for the tax mandate:

  • Review the tax mandate on a recurring basis
  • Analyze hours spent on tax files for billing purposes, and highlight any significant discrepancies
  • Explain mandate issues and provide interpretation, as required

Ensure good customer relationship management:

  • Identify tax needs for potential and existing customers, as required
  • Provide quality service to the firm’s clients

 

Required Qualifications

Training

  • Graduate degree in taxation
  • Recognized CPA or lawyer designation

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years or more of relevant experience in taxation, ideally with a professional firm.

Skills

  • Knowledge of software (Word, Excel, etc.) and tax research tools (CCH Online, Taxfind, Taxnet Pro)
  • Knowledge of tax return software (TaxPrep & DT Max)
  • Fluency in French and English (an asset)
  • Thorough knowledge of the Income Tax Act and the Quebec Taxation Act

  • Ability to dissect, understand and apply tax laws
  • Intellectual curiosity and passion for keeping abreast of new tax developments
  • Commitment to constant updating, demonstrating a daily interest in reading and research
