They will be responsible for the full accounting cycle for the organization and for directing all financial activities and tasks ranging from journal entries, financial statement development, budgets, and cash management.

  • Recognized accounting designation (CPA)
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a finance leadership role

Brief Description

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Director of Finance will be responsible for the full accounting cycle for the organization. You will be responsible for directing all financial activities and tasks ranging from journal entries, financial statement development, budgets, and cash management.

You will be challenged to implement a more robust structure in the finance department. Your role will be fast-paced, complex and challenging in nature and will require your ability to pivot between several strategic files.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

STRATEGY & OPERATIONS

  • You will play an essential role in establishing financial strategies that will allow the management team to make informed decisions regarding future projects and the growth of the company
  • You will act as a leader both from a financial reporting perspective according to best accounting practices, but also as a business advisor
  • You will need to be involved in the operations to understand them and support the operations managers, especially in the analytical and financial performance reviews of projects.
  • You will also be asked to provide strategic and tactical input for critical decisions, allowing you to have a real voice in the direction of the company.

 

FINANCE

  • You will supervise the preparation of management reports to support strategic decisions
  • You will supervise the preparation of financial statements and other management reports supporting business decisions
  • You will participate in acquisition projects and the implementation of the infrastructure necessary for the integration of operations and financial information
  • You will be responsible for the organization’s financing and commercial insurance files
  • You will be responsible for budgets, forecasts, and financial planning
  • You will implement a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tracking process
  • You will also leverage your strong internal control background to tactically implement processes and ensure continuous improvement
  • You will perform cost analysis and tracking of construction projects to enable financial and operational decision-making directly related to the projects.
  • You will ensure sound cash management and relations with banks and other external regulatory bodies.
  • You will participate in administrative and other related tasks to ensure efficient business management.

 

TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • You will effectively balance your time between working closely with the management team while supervising the accounting and administration team
  • You will mentor your team members by guiding and training them while providing active leadership to your department

Qualifications Required

Training

  • Hold a recognized accounting designation (CPA)

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a finance leadership role
  • Experience in the construction industry
  • Experience in high growth organizations in various industries
  • Experience in team management (supervising a team of 4-5 people)

Key competencies

  • Complete accounting cycle
  • Knowledge of accounting in a multi-entity environment
  • Ability to handle corporate finance files
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French
