Brief Description

Under the supervision of the President and CEO, the Controller is responsible for the financial management of the company, including all accounting operations and the management of a team of 4 people. The controller will also be responsible for maintaining effective internal controls, as well as producing financial reports in line with best accounting and business practices.

 

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

Manage the company’s accounting and financial management department

  • Oversee the production of financial statements, budgets, and various management reports
  • Analyze and ensure the integrity of financial information to enable strategic decision-making by management
  • Present results and management reports to the Executive Committee
  • Supervise the accounting team to achieve departmental objectives, meet deadlines, and support special projects
  • Participate in strategic orientation and implement action plans to achieve financial targets
  • Collaborate with other departments within the group to share information and achieve corporate objectives.
  • Take charge of margin and profitability analyses for investment projects
  • Manage various financing initiatives, including grant applications
  • Participate in the company’s various special projects, including those related to improving the company’s financial systems
  • Manage the company’s cash flow and ensure that best practices are maintained in this area
  • Pursue the implementation of internal controls and ensure the continuous improvement of the finance function.

Compliance

  • Validate existing policies, update, and implement internal control procedures if necessary

Internal & external communications

  • Interpret financial statements and ensure financial reporting
  • Supervise internal year-end and communicate with external accountants
  • Communicate with various external agents (bank, government, accountants, etc.)
  • Respond to internal customers on various financial information requests (superior, colleagues)

Costing system :

  • Continue, improve, and maintain costing system implementation
  • Any other costing-related requests or projects

 

Required Qualifications

Training

  • Recognized accounting designation (CPA)

Professional Experience

  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector
  • Knowledge of the food industry (an asset)

Competencies

  • Good knowledge of accounting standards, the full accounting cycle, and financial statement analysis
  • Experience in costing
  • Previous system implementation experience and understanding of various accounting systems (an asset)
  • Agility with computer systems and the creation of various reports
  • Mastery of Office Suite, advanced Excel skills, and Acomba experience (an asset)
  • Excellent French language skills, particularly in writing
  • Functional English
