Our Client, The One Drop Foundation, is looking for a Chief Accountant/Controller to join their dynamic team.

Under the supervision of the Vice-President, Finance and Administration, (CFO) interim, the Chief Accountant/Controller is responsible for the financial and accounting operations of the entire organization. The person will work in close collaboration with the One Drop finance team, as well as with the external consulting firm, particularly in financial accounting and different contractual agreements.

  • CPA accounting title (asset)
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years experience in a similar position
  • Experience in an NPO entity, or keen interest in working within an NPO organization
  • Very good command of ERP, project management, and Excel
  • Spoken and written bilingualism (French and English)

Brief Description

Under the supervision of the Vice-President, Finance and Administration, (CFO) interim, the Chief Accountant/Controller is responsible for the financial and accounting operations of the entire organization. The person will work in close collaboration with the One Drop finance team, as well as with the external consulting firm, particularly in financial accounting and different contractual agreements.

 

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the preparation of monthly and annual consolidated financial statements produced by external firms.
  • Prepare management reports and financial analyses for steering the organization.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and participate in the year-end audit process in collaboration with the external firm.
  • Oversee and assist in the preparation of annual budgets and budget revisions to ensure efficient monitoring of funding allocations, projects, and all other elements of the financial statements.
  • Participate in the analysis of contracts and their financial impact on informed decision-making by senior management.
  • Supervise and coordinate the preparation of financial information for tax filing (CAD-USA) by the external firm.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 2: 1 (AP), accounts payable technician, and 1 senior analyst.
  • Act as the main contact for all questions concerning the Foundation’s financial accounting rules (processes, standards, policies, etc.).
  • Ensure appropriate controls to minimize risks.
  • Participate in the development of internal policies and controls and ensure their application.
  • Any other related tasks in support of senior management decisions and requests.

 

Required Qualifications

Training

  • CPA accounting title (asset)

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years experience in a similar position
  • Experience in an NPO entity, or keen interest in working within an NPO organization

Skills

  • Very good command of ERP, project management, and Excel
  • Excellent organizational and priority management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Spoken and written bilingualism (French and English)
