VICE PRESIDENT HUMAN RESOURCES
Our client, ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, is looking for a Vice President Human Resources to join their successful team.
Reporting to the President of ZIM Canada, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies and tactics affecting all Canada-based ZIM employees.
- University Degree in business or HR-related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience with at least 7 years in an HR managerial position.
- Strong background in HRIS (preferably ADP and/or SAP HCM), labour relations, payroll, benefits & compensation management, and organizational change & development.
- Experience in managing payroll and ensuring payroll compliance both from a legal and global compliance perspective.
- HR experience in the transportation industry is preferred

Description
Reporting to the President of ZIM Canada, the Vice President Human Resources is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and tactics affecting all Canada-based ZIM employees.
The primary responsibilities of this role include the design, execution, and administration of all Human Resource policies, procedures, and programs that impact all employees. This involves close collaboration with the President of ZIM Canada on key focus areas such as talent acquisition, employee experience, leadership development, continuous learning, total rewards, payroll, and labour relations.
As a senior leader in the company, the incumbent is also tasked with providing vision, leadership, and strategic planning, along with project coordination and execution, all in a cost-effective manner to address current and future business needs.
Main Responsibilities
HR Strategy & Policy
- Develop and drive HR strategy, priorities, and actions.
- Provide advice and recommendations to senior leadership and other levels of management, regarding HR matters.
- Coach, mentor, and develop business leaders by providing professional insights and solutions to address staff and business issues.
- Review and implement HR policies & procedures.
Talent Acquisition
- Devise a recruitment strategy and channel to fill all openings within the needed time frame, based on business needs.
- Lead recruitment process and drive continuous improvement.
- Assist with headcount requirement evaluations and job scoping.
Total Rewards
- Manage payroll processes and general administration.
- Prepare the annual payroll budget following the business strategy.
- Lead the annual performance and salary review processes.
- Lead salary benchmarking process; review benefits package to ensure market competitiveness.
- Develop and administer performance, retention, and other local recognition and incentive programs.
Reporting & Insights
- Report for various HR KPIs and metrics such as employee experience, attrition, and exit interview data compilation, to help improve existing processes and support decision-making.
- Prepare monthly headcount reports and HR scorecards for senior management.
- Assist with ad hoc reports as needed, including monthly costs associated with specific employee cost centres.
Change Leadership
- Champion organizational changes at all levels.
- Build change resiliency in the organization.
Learning & Development
- Model and drive the desired performance culture.
- Build a leadership pipeline to prepare for future business needs.
- Identify the training needs and address them through internal or external resources.
Continuous Improvement
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve, automate, and streamline processes.
- Partner with others in HR function on local, national, or global projects or initiatives.

Required Qualifications
Education
- University Degree in business or HR-related field.
- Master’s degree in HR-related field (asset).
- CRHA or CHRP certification (asset).
