PRINCIPAL, SALES TAX

Our Client, Ryan, is seeking a Principal for their Montreal-based Sales tax Practice, who will play a pivotal role as part of the overall Canadian sales tax leadership team.

  • Minimum 10 years’ professional experience in sales tax consulting, ideally in public accounting / tax consulting firm
  • Hold a recognized accounting designation (CPA).
  • Strong knowledge of Goods and Services Tax, Quebec Sales Tax, and Provincial Retail Sales Tax legislation and policies.
  • Experience with managing and disputing audits performed by Canadian tax authorities, seeking for and obtaining rulings, and submitting voluntary disclosure to tax authorities.
  • Experienced with tax research and preparation of tax memorandum.
  • Excellent communication skills, adept at simplifying complex tax concepts for clients and colleagues.

Role: Principal – Sales tax

 

Why The Need and Key Descriptors: 

Due to demand and growth, Ryan is seeking a Principal for their Montreal-based Sales tax Practice, who will play a pivotal role as part of the overall Canadian sales tax leadership team.

Overseeing the advisory and recovery practices in Quebec, you will provide strategic direction, technical expertise, and creative solutions to meet the client’s sales tax needs. You will lead and mentor a team of talented professionals, while fostering client relationships that will drive business growth. We are looking for someone who shares in Ryan’s client-centric approach to continue build their practice above their competitive landscape.

 

Key Responsibilities would include, but not limited to:

Client Engagement:

  • Advise and support clients in sales tax services, including consulting and recovery.
  • Delivers and supervises consulting and recovery work delegated to managers and staff.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for sales tax related matters throughout the Firm and assigned geographical areas.
  • Find innovative solutions to assist clients with the tax authorities.
  • Foster and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Identify opportunities for service expansion and cross-selling.

Leadership & Strategic Planning:

  • Support clients to develop tax planning strategies.
  • Works within the Practice to develop new tax planning ideas to deliver to clients.
  • Identify initiatives to improve service delivery and profitability.
  • Stay current on industry trends and regulatory changes.
  • Assists in the general operations and administration of the practice.

Practice Growth & Team Development:

  • Identify networking opportunities to enhance the firm’s visibility.
  • Contribute to business development strategies.
  • Develops new client relationships and works with Ryan global management team to expand the Practice to other markets.
  • Develop tax training presentations for the tax practice and prospective & existing clients.
  • Creates a positive team experience, supporting the growth and development of a high-performing tax team.
  • Work with the other partners to set the strategy of the overall practice and take the lead in growing the Quebec and East Coast regions.

 

Who We Are Looking For:
