Our client, Metro, is looking for a Legal Advisor – Metro – Pharmaceutical Division (Jean Coutu / Brunet) (Full-time position, 12-month contract).

Reporting to the Senior Manager and Assistant Corporate Secretary, the incumbent will negotiate and draft various agreements and provide legal advice for the pharmaceutical division of METRO.

  • Member of the Bar or Chamber of Notaries
  • 5 years of relevant experience in commercial, real estate, or franchising law
  • Knowledge of Office suite software
  • Technical knowledge of regulatory, contractual, or ethical issues
  • Understanding of a professional work environment
  • Bilingualism (French and English, spoken and written)

Summary

The legal team faces various challenges, such as providing in-house legal advice, coordinating external mandates, negotiating, and preparing legal documents, particularly in the fields of real estate and commercial law.

Their objective: is to provide the best legal advice and opinions for effective decision-making. Metro’s Legal Affairs team consists of eleven (11) professionals who work as part of a broader legal team of over thirty (30) individuals. Whether you’re a notary or a lawyer, you’ll find your share of daily challenges.

Reporting to the Senior Manager and Assistant Corporate Secretary, the incumbent will negotiate and draft various agreements and provide legal advice for the pharmaceutical division of METRO.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and opinions, particularly in the fields of civil, commercial, real estate, pharmaceutical, and franchising law, to enable effective decision-making.
  • Negotiate, revise, and draft various agreements, particularly in commercial, real estate, and franchising transactions.
  • Monitor legal, regulatory, and jurisprudential changes that may affect the company, and help it adapt to these changes.
  • Support the company in applying the laws and regulations that it must comply with.
  • Conduct legal research in various fields.
  • Assert the company’s rights in various cases.
  • Coordinate certain mandates entrusted to external lawyers.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of departmental models and procedures.
  • Participate in special projects as requested by the immediate supervisor.
  • Perform any other related tasks.

 

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Member of the Bar or Chamber of Notaries

Professional Experience

  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience in commercial, real estate, or franchising law

Competencies

  • Knowledge of Office suite software
  • Technical knowledge of regulatory, contractual, or ethical issues
  • Knowledge of franchising (an asset)
  • Understanding of a professional work environment
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector (an asset)
  • Bilingualism (French and English, spoken and written)
