The strategic role: Director of Finance and Administration

The Director of Finance and Administration will be called upon to assume all the responsibilities of the accounting, administrative and HR functions. More specifically, his responsibilities will include:

Financial accounting management:
  • Plan, direct and coordinate all operational and strategic functions relating to the accounting and finance of the company
  • Provide management with information to enable informed decision-making
  • Participate in the executive committee
  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly financial dashboards
  • Prepare and present the monthly and annual financial statements of the company to the management team
  • Ensure effective control procedures and results monitoring (dashboards and performance indicators)
  • Perform the complete accounting cycle for the company, its management company and its trust
  • Liaise with governments, banks, accounting firm and other professionals
  • Establish sound liquidity management including currency and exchange rate management (Foreign exchange contract, etc.)
  • Supervise the work and provide the necessary technical support, training and evaluation to the accounting staff (accounting technician will report directly to the Financial Director)
  • Manage the accumulation and reconciliation of accounting data to ensure and perform business results accurately
  • Collaborate in the preparation and follow-up of quotes and purchase orders, when required
  • Be the resource person to support the accounting systems
Administrative management:
  • Participate in the annual strategic planning
  • Manage insurance, leases and ensure the proper functioning of offices
  • Manage computer and telephone systems
  • Negotiate and coordinate the work of technical suppliers, such as the IT consultant and others
Human Resource Management:
  • Be the resource person in the group insurance file
  • Participate in the hiring process for new employees and interns
  • Ensure the welcome of new employees
  • Set up performance evaluations with measurable and quantifiable objectives
Qualifications
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Hold an accounting designation (an important asset)
  • Have a minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in a similar administrative position
  • Bilingualism both orally and in writing
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry (strongly desired)
  • Efficient use of MS Office, Acomba software, and ERP SIGM.
Knowledge required
  • Mastery of the complete accounting cycle
  • Pan-Canadian and foreign experience (an asset)
  • Experience in a multi-currency environment (an asset)
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Excel (layout, programming of formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Knowledge of BI tools (an asset)
  • Experience in US taxation (an asset)
