Our client, TC Transcontinental, is looking for a Director, Financial Reporting who will report directly to the Vice President and Controller.

As head of the financial reporting team, you will act as a business partner and perform analysis of complex transactions. You will also manage the drafting of IFRS consolidated financial statements, coordinate external audit work, and ensure the preparation of accounting analyses and recommendations to identify impacts and guide TC Transcontinental’s strategic decisions.

  • Recognized accounting designation (CPA)
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Professional experience in publicly traded companies
  • Experience in team management
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting standards, particularly IFRS
  • Bilingualism, both written and spoken and knowledge of Spanish (an asset)

Brief Description

Reporting to the Vice President and Controller, as head of the financial reporting team, you will act as a business partner and perform analysis of complex transactions. You will also manage the drafting of IFRS consolidated financial statements, coordinate external audit work, and ensure the preparation of accounting analyses and recommendations to identify impacts and guide TC Transcontinental’s strategic decisions.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Financial information component

  • Plan and coordinate the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements
  • Ensure optimal planning of resources and processes to improve the efficiency of financial statement preparation
  • Review analyses and financial statements to support management and strategic decision making
  • Coordinate the financial statement issuance process with the communications department
  • Manage the quarterly review and annual audit process with the Company’s auditors
  • Plan and coordinate the preparation of the Company’s annual pension plan financial statements
  • Manage the annual audit process with the pension plan auditors
  • Assist the Vice President and Controller in updating the various policies, procedures, and internal controls of the Company by following up on internal audit reports and participating in various process improvement and efficiency projects

Financial Disclosure component

  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements
  • Analyze new IFRS standards and their impact to issue recommendations in support of accounting regulations
  • Be aware of the disclosure requirements of the Autorité des marchés financiers and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with current standards

Special projects component | Merger & Acquisition

  • Assist the Mergers and Acquisitions department in the acquisition and disposition of businesses
  • Coordinate the due diligence process with the M&A department
  • Make recommendations and provide an opinion on the quality of financial information of proposed acquisitions
  • Evaluate and analyze the accounting impacts of proposed transactions
  • Coordinate and plan the initial accounting for business acquisitions

Team Management component       

  • Anticipate talent needs and prepare the next generation
  • Promote the acquisition and improvement of knowledge
  • Ensure sound performance management and continuous communication:
  • Encourage, facilitate and lead change

Required Qualifications

Training

  • University degree in accounting or finance
  • Hold a recognized accounting designation (CPA)

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Professional experience in publicly traded companies
  • Experience in team management

Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting standards, particularly IFRS
  • Bilingualism, both written and spoken and knowledge of Spanish (an asset)
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver on time
  • Ability to work on several files at the same time/coordination
