Our client, Transcontinental Ross Ellis, is looking for a Chief of Human Resources.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Chief of Human Resources is a business partner in the daily operations of the company and its business strategy. His main responsibility is to manage the human resources and labour relations activities as well as the health and safety of the Ross Ellis plant.

  • Recognized CRHA designation
  • Minimum of 8-10 years experience as a generalist in human resources and personnel management
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • Experience in change management
  • Experience in health and safety in a manufacturing environment
  • In-depth knowledge of human resources management
  • Excellent knowledge of the French language
  • Good knowledge of the English language

Brief Description

Reporting to the General Manager, the Chief of Human Resources is a business partner in the daily operations of the company and its business strategy. His main responsibility is to manage the human resources and labour relations activities as well as the health and safety of the Ross Ellis plant.

In the context of change, he will have to develop human resources management strategies to support the organization in achieving its objectives. He will support the General Manager, the management team, and the managers on various management and human resources issues.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Coach and support the General Manager and the management team on various management and human resources issues as well as strategic decisions
  • Oversees all human resources activities and HR personnel in the plant
  • Assumes responsibility for the management of all HR programs and policies, including talent acquisition, professional development, total compensation, performance management, and succession planning
  • Performs recruitment activities for specialized positions
  • Manages, interprets, and applies the four (4) collective agreements and labour relations files
  • Supports managers in the resolution of grievances and disciplinary matters
  • Manages and supports managers in the resolution of grievances and disciplinary matters
  • Coordinates and facilitates the RTAs and writes the minutes
  • Coordinates and participates in quarterly meetings
  • Provides leadership and actively participates in the joint health and safety committee (risk analysis, accident investigation, development of the annual plan, joint observation, drafting of minutes)
  • Develops, implements, and manages internal human resources regulations and policies
  • Provides support and advice to employees throughout their professional life
  • Supports directors in the development of managers
  • Acts as an active member of the OHS committee and coordinates the implementation of the company’s OHS and wellness campaigns
  • Writes the majority of communications within Ross Ellis
  • Proposes, implements, and organizes various training sessions
  • Implements measures that promote the continuity of corporate programs and participate in corporate projects

 

Required Qualifications

Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial relations, human resources, or a related discipline
  • Possess a recognized CRHA designation

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 8-10 years experience as a generalist in human resources and personnel management
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • Experience in change management
  • Experience in health and safety in a manufacturing environment

Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of human resources management
  • Excellent knowledge of the French language
  • Good knowledge of the English language
