Brief Description
The CFO will act as a strategic partner to the management team and the Board of Directors and will support the company with expertise in financial reporting, financing of operations, and optimization of internal controls while mobilizing his team.
From a financial perspective, the CFO will be responsible for ensuring that the company’s financial reporting is compliant with applicable accounting regulations, is completed promptly, that the necessary funding is available to support the company’s continued growth, and that adequate internal controls are in place and functioning to ensure sufficient support for financial and operational activities.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Define financial objectives that align with the company’s growth and expansion plan and evaluate the organization’s financial performance regarding operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.
- Provide strategic management of the accounting, tax, and finance functions, including leading accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, recommending improvements to ensure the integrity of the company’s financial information, as well as managing the relationship with the independent auditors.
- Participate in strategic acquisitions by providing strategic insight, due diligence transaction support, and integration capabilities.
- Manage relationships with external financial stakeholders, including investment and merchant banks, research analysts, investment institutions, and investors.
- Perform active risk management by identifying and managing the organization’s business risks, liquidity risks, and commitments and investments.
- Identify, acquire, and implement systems and software to automate reporting and analysis in collaboration with the CTO to provide access to accurate data for decision support to key operational and business functions as well as forecasting and predictive analysis.
- Ensure periodic regulatory filings with the relevant institution’s compliance and disclosure department, securities commissions, and security holders, and ensure that the organization is always operating within the policies of the Exchange.
- Ensure that the company follows all regulatory financial reporting and disclosure requirements.
- Ensure that an appropriate capital structure is maintained to support the company’s strategic plan.
- Coordinate the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.
- Oversee all legal matters and manage discussions with outside counsel.
- Communicate the need for, importance, and benefits of internal controls in the organization.
- Develop internal financial accountability across all departments of the organization to provide the best service at the best price.
Required Qualifications
Training
- Hold a recognized accounting designation (CPA)
Professional Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a senior executive or CFO in a public company
Key Competencies
- Good knowledge of IFRS standards
- Experience working in a regulatory, compliance, and disclosure environment for public companies
- Bilingualism
